Sakoon · سكون · free Windows app

Your PC can observe the azaan too.

Walk through a mall in Dubai, Riyadh, or Doha when the azaan begins — the music simply stops. Sakoon brings that same quiet courtesy to your Windows PC: audio fades out a minute before each azaan and returns automatically after. You never touch a key.

On first run Sakoon sits in your system tray, opens its dashboard at 127.0.0.1, and can start with Windows via a visible Startup-folder shortcut you control in Settings.

How it works

Official timings first. Astronomy as the watchdog.

Prayer times differ by country and even by emirate, and each awqaf authority publishes its own monthly table — deliberately a few minutes apart from pure astronomy. So Sakoon treats your uploaded official table (CSV/Excel, Arabic headers welcome) as the source of truth, versioned and checksummed. Its built-in solar calculation exists only as a fallback and a corruption detector.

Honesty, built in. Calculated times are always labelled CALCULATED — UNOFFICIAL  A Verify view compares official vs calculated per day: a small, stable difference is healthy; a sudden jump exposes a corrupted upload before it ever mutes at the wrong time. And where Sakoon and your awqaf or mosque differ — they are right, and Sakoon is wrong.
Fade, never hard-cut

Audio ramps down gently before the azaan and ramps back after — exactly the mall behaviour. Friday Dhuhr becomes a longer, configurable Jumu'ah window.

Crash-safe by design

Restore data is written to disk before audio is touched. Even if the app dies mid-azaan, your sound comes back on next start — never a permanently muted PC.

Sleep & device proof

A missed azaan is never replayed after your laptop wakes, and plugging in headphones mid-window can't strand a device muted.

You stay in charge

Unmute manually and Sakoon stands down for that window. Snooze 30 min or 2 hours from the tray when you're in a meeting.

Emirate-level regions

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Kuwait, Manama, Muscat, Cairo, Amman, Beirut presets — because Dubai and Abu Dhabi genuinely differ by minutes.

100% local & private

Runs on 127.0.0.1. No account, no ads, no telemetry — your tables and settings live in plain files on your own machine.

Sakoon is a convenience, not a religious authority — please don't make it your only reminder for prayer.

♥ A du'a for those who built it is more than enough.
